Parcels, the innovative iphone app by Lucid Design

0 Comments 04 October 2009

Lucid Design, a small web development and graphic design studio was founded by Galen King in early 2000 when she was still studying at Canterbury University.

The main priority of the business is to make beautiful and elegant designs that truly meet their client’s needs. Their style is minimalist and they put a lot of emphasis on not over designing or over complicating their projects and applications.

They are strongly committed to looking after small businesses and helping them grow, which makes them a truly great little innovative kiwi business.

The latest feather in their cap is a new iphone app called Parcels. They had been itching to make an app for months and during another project for New Zealand Post they got talking with their Strategic Analyst about automated integration with NZ Post’s systems, which eventually lead to the release of Parcels.

Parcels is specifically developed for small businesses and individuals who send and/or receive deliveries with New Zealand Post or CourierPost.

It offers quick and easy management of tracked parcels, showing delivery status, date, time, and details of delivery.

One of the main frustrations they worked to overcome was with most current track-and-trace systems you need to enter your tracking number each time you wish to check the status. They have designed Parcels so that it stores your packages so you can check back regularly to see the status of the delivery. You don’t need to re-enter your track-and-trace details every time to check a parcel

They also provide a link to the CourierPost website which actually displays the signature for signature-required deliveries.

Parcels has recently surpassed 650 downloads and has an average rating of 4 stars. It is available to download from the Apple iTunes App Store for $1.29.
